April 2014 Releases

Ooh, there are some great releases that I've been waiting a long time for coming out this month. YAY!

Sekret by Lindsey Smith
4/1/14

Why -> You have a young girl forced to be a psychic spy for the KGB. I'm loving the psychic element and the mystery of spy business on this one. This one looks really good. A mystery coupled with espionage and psychic abilities, yes!

Salvage by Alexandra Duncan
4/1/14

Why -> I love this idea. Ava escapes a male dominated merchant space ship to save herself. She finds herself on a floating continent of trash in the Pacific Ocean. I'm really into sci-fi books lately. Now I just need to clear my reading list to read them, hahaha.

Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell

Why -> This one looks so good. Kit is a killer. She receives letter that begin with "Dear Killer" and she follows the only rules she's ever known and leaves a letter with the dead body. That is until a certain letter arrives that turns everything upside down.

A Whisper in Time (Whisper Falls #2) by Elizabeth Langston
4/8/14

Why -> I have this one on pre-order and can't wait for it to come out. I loved the first book, Whisper Falls. Such a great story. I love the way history and present time swirl together in this series. I can't wait to see what happens next with Susanna and Mark. Trying not to give too much away about how the first book ends, I'll just say that if you like a historical twists this is the series for you.

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
4/8/14

Why -> I feel like I've been waiting forever for this book to release. Harper becomes a Paladin at the homecoming dance and is charged to protect her least favorite person, ever. To make matters worse she starts to fall for him and finds out his destiny could be to destroy the Earth.

Burn Out by Kristi Helvig
4/8/14

Why -> Tora lives on the wasteland that is left of Earth after the sun goes red giant and she longs to get the heck off the planet. She dreams of a planet with oceans and animals, and real plants that aren't deadly cacti. She finds herself questioning who she can trust when mercenaries arrive to take her father's weapons by force. The very weapons that only Tora should be able to use, but one of the soldiers, James, is able to fire.

Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3) by Laini Taylor
4/8/14

Why -> When I first heard of Daughter of Smoke and Bone I was intrigued and wanted to read it, but I never got around to it. Then Days of Blood and Starlight came out and there was that crazy buzz again. This time I figured it was only another year before the final book came out, so I might as well wait and read straight through. Now, I can't wait! I am going to finally read this trilogy that everyone else can't stop talking about.

House of Ivy and Sorrow by Natalie Whipple
4/15/14

Why -> This one is filled with magic and I love a good story around magic. Jo has spent the past ten years hiding from the very curse that killed her mother, but now it appears the killer has returned. But Jo needs to learn more about what she is really up against and decide what she's willing to risk to save those she loves.

Frozen (Taken #2) by Erin Bowman
4/15/14

Why -> Another book I have yet to read the first installment of. I have Taken on my Kindle, I just haven't read it yet. This is on my list of books to read this year. I'm trying to read books I have on my shelves and Kindle first before requesting other books from the library.

In the Shadows by Kiersten White and Jim Di Bartolo
4/29/14

Why -> I'm completely enthralled with this idea. The story is told alternating between words (Kiersten White) and pictures (Jim Di Bartolo). The story takes place in a town where mysterious things happen and no one can outrun their past.

The Taking by Kimberly Derting
4/29/14

Why -> Ooh, Kyra wakes up to find she's been missing for five years and everything has turned upside down in her life. Her boyfriend and best friend are now dating. Her parents are divorced and her dad is convinced little green men had something to do with her disappearance. So interesting. I can't wait for this one. I love a good conspiracy theory.

Sweet Reckoning (The Sweet Trilogy #3) by Wendy Higgins
4/29/14

Why -> I have both Sweet Evil and Sweet Peril on my Kindle waiting for this third book. I can't wait to read them. I've heard great things about the series and I am anxiously awaiting this final installment so I can read them back to back.
