February 2015 New Book Releases

Oh there are so many good things coming out this month. So excited!

Dearest (Woodcutter Sisters #3) by Alethea Kontis

Why -> I loved the first book in this trilogy, Enchanted. If you love fairy tales this is definitely one for you. I have been waiting to read the second book, Hero, until this last one came out. I love her writing and her imagination so much.

Shutter by Courney Alameda

Why -> I'm not big on horror, but this one really caught my attention. Micheline, a descendant of the Van Helsing lineage and a tetrachromat, who can see the auras of the undead, hunts the undead. When a hunt goes awry she finds herself and her entire crew of friends in danger of dying from a curse if they don't catch the entity that slipped through their fingers. At the same time she's become a renegade agent and is being hunted by her own father. This looks seriously good.

Why -> I loved her Unearthly trilogy. Loved it. And she broke me down in that last book. And from the description of this one, I'm guessing she's definitely trying to rip my heart out with this one even more. My one line description: Lex's life hasn't been the same since her brother killed himself, and now she can't move on.

Rebound by Noelle August

Why -> Oh my gosh! I loved the first book, Boomerang. Seriously loved it. And I was lucky enough to get an e-arc of this one. LOVED it, too. I can't wait for the third book, Bounce, to release in August. Rebound tells Adam Blackwood (founder of Boomerang) and Alison Quick's (Ethan's ex) story. I wasn't sure I'd like her after reading Ethan and Mia's story, but I loved her. As they say, there are always two sides to the story.

The Return (Titans #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Why -> OMG it's Seth's story!!! If you're a fan of JLA's and have read the Covenant series then you completely understand. If you haven't then I command you to go out and read the Covenant series right now. You'll love/hate me all at once for the recommendation. And then you'll be obsessed along with me. lol The Titan series is a spin off of the Covenant series and takes place after the end of Sentinel. And stay tuned: I have a signed copy of Half Blood to giveaway in February in celebration of The Return.

A Darker Shade of Magic (#1) by Victoria Schwab

Why -> I seriously love her work. This one looks so freaking amazing. Parallel universes and magic. Ah, my kind of book for sure.

My Secret Guide to Paris by Lisa Schroeder

Why -> I'm a huge fan of anything by Lisa Schroeder; her middle grade, her young adult verse, and her children's books. Nora and her grandmother Sylvia planned a vacation to Paris to see the city Sylvia loves and has peppered Nora with stories about. But when Sylvia suddenly passes away Nora isn't sure that trip will ever happen. Until she finds a scavenger hunt packed away in her grandmother's suitcase, prompting her to continue with their planned vacation.

Unleashed (Uninvited#2) by Sophie Jordan

Why -> I haven't read the blurb to this one since the first book, Uninvited is sitting on my Kindle waiting patiently for me to read it. There are just too many books and too little time to read them. I'm hoping to get to it soon.Plus, it's an upcoming book of the month for the Colleen Houck Book Club on Goodreads.

Salt & Stone (Fire & Flood #2) by Victoria Scott

Why -> As a testament to how many books there are to read and how little time there is: I literally own all of Victoria Scott's books on my Kindle, and I'm constantly meaning to read them. This is a goal of mine this year, to read all of her books. I keep hearing how great they are.

Unchanged (Unremembered #3) by Jessica Brody

Why -> I absolutely adored Unremembered. So I waited when Unforgotten came out because I wanted to read them back to back. And now there are two novellas, Undiscovered (#1.5) and Unleashed (#2.5) to add to the stack to read. So you know what I'll be catching up on soon.

What books am I missing that you're excited about releasing in February 2015?

Cover Reveal: ALL PLAYED OUT by Cora Carmack

About All Played Out

First person in her family to go to college? CHECK.
Straight A’s? CHECK.
On track to graduate early? CHECK.
Social life? …..yeah, about that….

With just a few weeks until she graduates, Antonella DeLuca’s beginning to worry that maybe she hasn’t had the full college experience. (Okay... Scratch that. She knows she hasn't had the full college experience).

So Nell does what a smart, dedicated girl like herself does best. She makes a "to do" list of normal college activities.

Item #1? Hook up with a jock.

Rusk University wide receiver Mateo Torres practically wrote the playbook for normal college living. When he’s not on the field, he excels at partying, girls, and more partying. As long as he keeps things light and easy, it's impossible to get hurt... again. But something about the quiet, shy, sexy-as-hell Nell gets under his skin, and when he learns about her list, he makes it his mission to help her complete it.

Torres is the definition of confident (And sexy. And wild), and he opens up a side of Nell that she's never known. But as they begin to check off each crazy, exciting, normal item, Nell finds that her frivolous list leads to something more serious than she bargained for. And while Torres is used to taking risks on the field, he has to decide if he's willing to take the chance when it's more than just a game.

Together they will have to decide if what they have is just part of the experiment or a chance at something real.

New Year, New Goals

I'm a little late getting my goals posted. Between doctor appointments and getting back into the swing of things, and our routine, I'm seriously late. But, better late than never. Right?! That's what I thought. lol

This year I've had a bunch of changes behind the scenes. One of which is I've changed emails. That is probably the craziest ideas I've had in a very, very, very long time. Seriously, I wish I could just type in a new user name and that be that. But no. I had to create a new email account. Add all of my contacts to the new account. And then switch ALL my subscriptions and accounts to that email. Needless to say I'm still finding some that I've forgotten to switch over. And yes, my new email address is now attached to my blog, but man what a pain in the rear this has been.

As a result of changing my gmail account I also changed my Google+ account over to the new one. Both are in the links on the left of my blog. Again, a serious pain in the behind!

So on to my goals. And I'm hoping some of you will hold me accountable this year. And if you need to kept accountable, let me know in the comments and I'll help you out too.

1) Sticker Calendar: I'm using a sticker calendar for writing/editing. I hope to post a picture of it at the end of each month on my Instagram account and link it to my other sites. I'm still not sure, but I'm thinking of doing a post on it as well each month.

2) Writing/Editing: I'm looking for a few new critique partners who will definitely keep me in line. I lost my old amazing crit group when I left New Jersey and I miss them keeping me motivated and on task. I miss meeting in person and the camaraderie. If you've never had a local group that meets regularly, I highly suggest trying it out.

3) Social Media: I'm trying to be more present on my social media accounts. I cut way down on checking into Twitter and conversing with others. Instagram is about the only one I really kept using non stop.

4) Blogging: I want to get back to blogging. The only thing I kept up on was my Waiting on Wednesday posts. Mostly because I could set up a bunch and schedule them ahead of time. I miss blogging, but haven't really had anything to say at all lately. So if you know of any good memes for writers let me know because I'm thinking that might help me get back into it. I'm going to start back up slowly, with one post a week for now and then add more later.

5) Query: This is quite possibly the biggest and hardest goal of my year. My plan is to have this manuscript completely polished by mid-April. Then I need to have it critiqued. And finally, by August I want it out on submission. If I keep up with my goals and stay accountable hopefully I can get this one done.

What are your goals for 2015?
